My Speech

I’m going to talk about Christmas and New Year in New Zealand. How to spend Christmas in New Zealand is different in Japan. Most shops and restaurants are closed on that day. They spend times with their family and relations in Christmas. If they have a boyfriend or girlfriend, they would stay home and enjoy with their family and relations. It seems as if the New Year in Japan. Moreover their meal is special on the day. They drink champagne from morning, have a BBQ in lunch and eat real Christmas dinner. They enjoy having a BBQ because Christmas in New Zealand is in summer.
At New Year, Japanese people watch a “Red and White Song Battle“ on TV, hear and play the watch-night bell, visit to shrine or temple, enter kotatu and eat special dishes. They spend time slowly with their family. On the other hand, there are countdown and New Year party in New Zealand. People make a lot of noise and enjoy New Year. Have a good Christmas and New Year!!

Customs in New Zealand

People in New Zealand go to bed early and get up early. The average of worker’s bedtime is 10:30 p.m. Moreover the average of children’s bedtime is 6:30 p.m. They are so early. In Japan, however, some interesting TV programs are broadcast at that time and people are enjoying their own evening life.

How to wash dishes in New Zealand is different in Japan. First, they save hot water in sink, put cleaner in it and froth it. Next, they put dishes in sink and wash them. Surprisingly, people don’t rinse the dishes, and wipe only them.

*Movie*

My Favorite Movie

Armageddon

My favorite movie is Armageddon. I have seen many times on TV. Every tome I saw this movie, I was moved to tears by it. Armageddon was showing in 1998. This movie is set in America in 1998, too.

Plot: Comparable to the size of Texas with a massive asteroid approach to Earth and New York was filled with countless groups of meteorites. The result of calculation, it came to light that they collided with the Earth after 18 days. To avoid annihilation, General Truman (Billy Bob Thornton), commander of NASA is heard the idea that opening a hole in the asteroid's surface, exploding nuclear bomb at underground and can change orbit of asteroid. He asks Harry (Bruce Willis), Oil and mining professionals to drill on the planet. Harry collects call Chick (Will Patton), Rockhound (Steve Buscemi) and Harry's daughter Grace (Liv Tyler) love AJ (Ben Affleck) whom he has been working together for many years. After a rigorous training, they get on the two shuttles to the planet. But the "Independence" which AJ got failed to land. Harry and others started on drilling work, but the work was difficult. However, AJ who is believe to be dead rushed and were riding excavator, and he succeeded in drilling with Harry. However it was found out that anyone have to explode a nuclear by hand. It was decided that AJ remains there by lot, but Harry picked AJ up the shuttle, and he leave a message to AJ "the daughter's husband is proud of you.” And he returned to the excavation site, press button of the nuclear. The asteroid digressed orbit and Earth was saved by Harry’s sacrificial act.

Soundtrack: The soundtrack features the song of Armageddon was “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, performed by Aerosmith. This song is the only number one hit of the band’s career. I like this song, and I am moved by this song every time. Moreover Steven Tyler of Aerosmith is Liv Tyler’s father, and she plays the role of the heroine in Armageddon. When the last scene that Harry will remain in the asteroid and he communicates with his daughter at last was filmed, Liv Tyler played a more realistic performance by describing her real father, Steven Tyler, on the screen of NASA.

★Summer Vacation★

My Summer Vacation

My summer vacation was so good. The first half of my vacation was spent in Aichi and I had part-time job almost every day. Moreover I had the meeting of my club. This meeting is about welcome project of overseas students. We tried to succeed in this project. I met any relatives at the Bon Festival. I enjoyed talking with them.

The second half of my vacation was very interesting. I went to Hokkaido with my family on August 25. I stayed in there four days. First day, I went to see a statue of Clark and I took a photo with him. This statue is smaller than I thought. The night, I ate crab, susi and mutton. They are very delicious and I ate too much. Next day, I went to the Asahiyama Zoo, and animals were so cute and funny. Moreover I went to see many kinds of flower. But I can’t see lavender because lavender was dead. It was so unlucky. Next day, I took a cabin cruiser in Toya Lake. Water of Toya Lake wasn’t clear and clean. The night, I saw the rocket of Toya Lake and it was so beautiful and lovely!! Last day, I visited Otaru and I bought a glassy candlestick. I’m very pleased about it because it is so clean and pretty!! And I got a necklace bought by my grandma. This necklace seems to have a power that makes people happy. I hope to be happy in the near future.

I went to Centrair with Japanese club members because we welcomed overseas students at September 2 and 4. We waited for them to arrive at arrival gate for a long time. They arrived there, then we helped them to exchange their money into Japanese yen and to use international call and internet. Finally, we picked them up the bus bound for Fuzigaoka. I was very nervous because I worried about whether I failed or not. But as a result, I was so excited and interested because I could meet many overseas students. I want to speak English well when I will welcome next overseas students!! Next day, we did campus tour and guided neighborhood of NUFS for overseas students. I could make friends with them. I was so tired but I was happy!! I’m looking forward to taking part in next welcome project of overseas students.
